Your First Visit

Your First Visit

What to Expect

Whether you've attended church your whole life or never stepped foot in one before, we know it's not easy visiting a church for the first time. You're not quite sure what to expect. You probably have a lot of questions. We hope this information will help to answer your questions.

Cornerstone has a dedicated team of greeters here to meet you when you arrive on campus. You may seek them out in the main worship building and we would be happy to direct you to our loving nursery to check in your infant or toddler.

Cornerstone Baptist Church is an independent, Bible-believing Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome to come and bring the Bible of their choice, but we use the King James Version of the Bible in all services and classes for doctrinal unity and for doctrinal purity. We sing the old hymns of our faith, and we also sing some contemporary worship songs. We offer special music in many of our services with a classical style.

Everyone meets in the auditorium at 10 am before dispersing to age-appropriate classes. At 11 am everyone meets in the auditorium and school aged children are dismissed for children's church after the song service. At 6 pm there is a worship service for all ages.

Our greatest desire is to greet you with friendly hospitality and reach you with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We hope you will come and experience what God is doing at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

WHAT'S THE MORNING SCHEDULE?

We have different services on Sunday and Wednesday. View our schedule of services here.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

There is not a dress code at Cornerstone Baptist Church for members or guests, but our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional "Sunday" dress.

AM I EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OFFERING?

No. We don't invite you to Cornerstone Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH ARE YOU AND WHAT IS YOUR STATEMENT OF FAITH?

We are an Independent Baptist church. You can find our statement of faith here.

Here are some common questions and answers we often hear and respond too about the practice of our faith:

  1. What is an Independent Baptist Church? An Independent Baptist Church is a church body that is not governed by an outside entity. We have pastor (s), deacon (s), and we are organized with a church constitution and bylaws with the Word of God being the foundation of them, and also with articles of incorporation to exercise our faith in the state of Arizona.
  2. Why do people in the church dress so modestly? Although we do no have a dress code for visitors and members outside of volunteering. The truth is that we dress modestly to reflect a worship centered style of service that places our attention on the attributes of worship, which are singing praises to God, listening to preaching/teaching, and serving in various capacities. We therefor endeavor, to dress modestly so our attention can be placed on worshipping God in spirit and in truth without unnecessary distractions. (I Timothy 2:9-10)
  3. Why do we carry our Bible's to church? Although some people use Bible applications on their personal device, we carry the Bible to church because it is our textbook. The Bible is our first and final authority for all points of the practice of our faith, publically and privately.
  4. Does Cornerstone Baptist Church have a praise band? Although we do enjoy special music and a choir, we do not have a praise band. We also like the lights to be on in the service, and we do not model a rock-style service. We also do not use any type of flashes of light or pyrotechnics in our services.
  5. Why do the church members participate in giving? Although, we don't invite our community to church to give us money. It is God's Word that tells Christians in the local church to give to God in their tithes and offerings. (Malachi 3:8-10; I Corinthians 16:2)
